Jump - Performance Art
The ‘Jump’ Performance Art project illustrates the story of my struggle and self-resilience under the traditional Chinese education system. I designed and built the set to represent the different obstacles I encountered. The different heights of the white boxes depict the magnitude of the difficulties that I faced in a cold and barren environment. The choreography embodies my fight to break through the wall around me, overcome obstacles, and never fear "jumping" from height. As an amateur dancer growing up in the traditional system where informal learning is not recognized – dance was an empowering protest, which is why I choose this medium to tell my story to the audience. I narrate all my thoughts, all emotions, through my body and movement. This is a liberation for me. At this moment, I felt heard, healed, and humanized.

Dancing Feet - Stop Motion Animation
Dancing Feet - Stop Motion Animation
For this project, I used kneaded eraser and polymer clay to make a feet model and colored it with acrylic paint. This is the story of me getting hurt and wanting to fix it desperately but failing eventually. It also represents my inability to return to my ballet career. This can also be a metaphor for how damage is done gradually. Every decision that educational leaders make can strongly impact students. Sometimes when trauma is discovered, it is too late.

Ballet Fantasy - Collage Animation
Ballet Fantasy - Collage Animation
This is a collage animation about my fantasy of ballet dance. I dream of becoming a professional ballet dancer, and images of being able to spin and jump on stage frequently appear in my mind. In this project, I collaged the scene in my imagination and recreated the moment on the screen. The highlight is at the end of the animation: I fall heavily from the beautiful dreamland, and back to reality. While looking at the empty seats, I realize that it was just a nice dream I had.
